Quality Hospital Solutions (QHS) is a business specialising in the provision of innovative products and process improvements to the NHS and wider care industry. The business is a joint venture between a product inventor, Andrew Turner and City Hospitals Sunderland. Such a partnership is beneficial as it provides an ideal platform to capture new ideas which ultimately improve patient care yet also drive efficiencies and save money.
Our innovation may be driven by a specific need, or a bright idea from a colleague within the NHS or wider networks. QHS operates as funnel for innovation, both collating ideas from professionals within the NHS to solve challenges and improve patient care and also creating innovation directly to produce prototypes for improved and novel/unique products. Having access to NHS needs and issues is valuable in the development of such products and practical solutions have already been delivered and proven to reduce risk to patients. By working in partnership with NHS Trusts, we can make a real difference to patient comfort and safety.
There are no real boundaries for QHS – the blend of NHS part ownership, with the agility of a private sector commercial operator, means QHS is in a strong market position for its future growth potential.

At QHS, innovation is part of our everyday business, but it’s great when others recognise how our products truly make a difference and stand out from the crowd. In 2013 we received the NHS Innovations Bright Ideas award for our beverage trolley and we’re very proud to receive this on behalf of the NHS team who helped shape this innovative trolley.
We also received the NHS Innovations award for Bright Ideas in Health in 2014 for a new oxygen filter which ensures correct amount of oxygen is given to patients by means of visual reference – reducing the opportunity for error.
NHS Innovations acts as a broker between industry, academia and the health service bringing NHS employee’s bright ideas to life, turning them into products and services that improve healthcare and generate revenue for both the NHS and its industrial partners. QHS is closely associated with NHS Innovations North, working in partnership to help ideas become reality. At QHS, we support the process to create prototypes and help with commercialisation to ensure that the great ideas conceived in the NHS environment become a reality in practice.
Our home is at NETPark in County Durham within the vibrant innovation incubator, shared with other businesses who are breaking new ground and developing innovative solutions for multiple industry applications. Andrew Turner, MD of QHS is an ambassador for NETPark, helping to support innovation and technology and putting the region on the map as a centre for innovation in healthcare within the UK.
